Extended reality (XR) devices are quickly moving from experimental tools to practical business technology. From training simulations to remote collaboration, organizations are exploring how XR can support real-world workflows. As these devices enter enterprise environments, IT teams are starting to ask a practical question: how will we manage them?

Google has announced support for Android Enterprise management on XR devices, opening the door to managing XR alongside smartphones, tablets, and other enterprise endpoints. Samsung is preparing for this shift with a phased roadmap to support Knox Manage XR device management.

In this blog, we’ll walk through what’s coming, when XR devices will be supported in Knox Manage, and what to expect in the early stages of this new capability.

Why XR device management is emerging now

The first step begins with the release of official XR device firmware on March 31, 2026. This firmware lays the groundwork for Android Enterprise–based device management on XR devices. However, firmware availability alone does not immediately make XR devices manageable in Knox Manage.

The Knox Manage platform also requires updates to support this new device category. XR devices operate differently from traditional mobile devices, with unique interfaces and usage environments. Because of this, Knox Manage support will roll out in stages rather than arriving in a single release.

In other words, the foundation is arriving first—management capabilities follow shortly after.

Step one: initial XR device management support (Knox Manage v26.06)

The v26.06 release of Knox Manage introduces the first phase of XR device management. From this version onward, XR devices can be managed in Knox Manage using Android Enterprise policies.

Because XR devices function differently from smartphones and tablets, only a subset of Android Enterprise policy features will initially apply. IT admins will configure these policies using the existing Android Enterprise menu in the Knox Manage console.

A dedicated XR management interface will not yet be available in this release. Instead, Knox Manage provides the initial foundation for managing XR devices in enterprise environments, allowing organizations to begin applying policy controls as the ecosystem develops.

A full list of supported policies will be available in the XR feature documentation.

What this means for IT teams:

  • XR devices become manageable in Knox Manage
  • Android Enterprise policies provide the initial control framework
  • Android Enterprise policies provide the initial control framework

This release marks the beginning of Knox Manage XR support.

Step two: official XR device support (Knox Manage v26.10)

Full XR device support arrives with the v26.10 release of Knox Manage.

At this stage, Knox Manage introduces a dedicated XR device management experience within the console. IT admins will see a new menu specifically designed for configuring policies and managing XR devices.

With v26.10, organizations gain:

  • Official Knox Manage support for XR devices
  • A dedicated XR device management menu
  • A more complete and streamlined policy configuration experience

In short, v26.06 introduces the first management capabilities, while v26.10 delivers full XR device support and a more optimized management experience.

Knox Manage XR support roadmap at a glance

Here’s a quick overview of the XR support timeline:

March 31: XR device firmware release enabling Android Enterprise device management.

Knox Manage v26.06: Initial XR device management support using Android Enterprise policies.

Knox Manage v26.10: Official XR device support with dedicated policy configuration and improved management experience.

Preparing for XR device management

XR devices represent a new category of enterprise endpoints, and their management requirements will continue evolving as adoption grows.

By introducing XR support in phases, Knox Manage allows IT teams to begin managing XR devices early while expanding capabilities over time to meet real-world enterprise needs.

As the XR ecosystem continues to develop, Knox Manage will keep building a consistent device management experience across mobile, rugged, and XR devices.

For organizations planning to deploy XR devices, this roadmap answers an important question: XR device management is coming to Knox Manage—and it starts this year.
